Jinbei officially joins the Straw Hat crew in Chapter 653 of the One Piece manga, titled "The Battle on the Bridge". The corresponding episode in the anime is episode 574, titled "To the New World! Heading for the Ultimate Sea!", which aired on April 15th, 2012. In this episode, Jinbei formally agrees to become a member of the Straw Hat crew and joins them on their journey to the New World.
